Soccer Programs

  1. Eligibility and Teams:

Travel soccer teams are competitively selected and typically cater to players aged 7 (U8) and up.  Some programs may offer developmental programs for younger age groups.

Players from various areas can try out and play for these teams, not limited to players from the local recreational league.

  1. Competition:

Travel teams often compete against area and regional teams sponsored by other local soccer clubs.

These competitions are part of leagues like EDP (Eastern Development Program), MNJYSA (Mid New Jersey Youth Soccer Association), and (MOSA) Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association .

  1. Commitment:

Travel soccer requires commitment from both players and parents.

Practices typically occur 2-3 times weekly (depending on the program), with approximately 10 weekend games in both fall and spring.

Some teams may participate in local and regional tournaments.

Summer training sessions and indoor practices are also common.

  1. Benefits:

While it’s not for every child or family, travel soccer offers skill development, confidence building, and fun.

Winning isn’t the ultimate goal; player development takes precedence.

Remember, travel soccer is more competitive than recreational soccer, and it may involve regional travel depending on the program.
